One of the main purchases for a new kitchen is actually the cooking appliances but many people often overlook this area and don’t realise the wide range of options available to help bring out your inner chef.
Larger cooking appliances are sometimes regarded as only being useful for those who spend hours a day in the kitchen but this isn’t true. The latest options and types of larger cooking appliances available have been crafted to be very versatile. They come in different sizes and colours to suit almost any kitchen. They are also more energy efficient than their predecessors, offering special features that are great even for the casual home chef.
For those who are still unsure of what they should be looking for when shopping for your next cooking appliances, here are six terms explained to assist your search.
1. Induction hobs - these are the new range of electric hobs and are fast, energy efficient and easy to keep clean.
2. Oven configuration - this is typically either single cavity or two ovens where one is larger with multifunctional features and the other is a smaller, conventional oven. Often the two ovens configuration has a separate grill and a storage compartment/warming drawer.
3. Finishes -usually come in stainless steel or coloured enamel. Either surface can be purchased in matt and gloss effects. There are even a few manufacturers that are starting to offer a colour matching service or have upgraded their colour offerings to offer contemporary options.Cooker colour
4. Widths of range cookers - these are wider than standard ovens but not by much. Range cookers can be as small as 90cm and as large as 130cm. Just remember that you will need to leave a few millimetres on each side instead of being flush against your counters.
5. Heat-store ranges - some of the more powerful cooking appliances can not only cook your food but heat water and power the radiators in your whole house. Depending on the model, they can run on solid fuel, gas, oil LPG or wood. Most models are efficient heating/cooking systems.
6. Dual-fuel models - have become very popular recently as they are gas hobs and electric ovens. Electric ovens can be beneficial because they have more feature than gas while the gas hobs offer instant, more controllable heat.

Use countertop appliances. Get adventurous and start planning meals that avoid using your usual range oven. How about using your slow cooker, convection oven, microwave, toastie makers and grills to make an old and easy favourite. Reducing the use of your main oven will keep your kitchen so much cooler, so embrace countertop appliances, or why not opt for salads and meals that involve no cooking altogether?
Improve your main appliances. Old ovens, dishwashers and microwaves will let more heat into your kitchen, whilst also wasting energy and utility money. We can help you choose new appliances for your kitchen that are innovative, convenient and energy-saving (and they look great too!).

However there is one decision that often gets left until last minute, drowned out by all the more daunting kitchen decisions… what kind of sink will you choose?
Don’t know where to start? Here are a couple of options to think about:
1/ Size isn’t Everything… But It Can Make A Big Difference
With so many shapes and sizes of sink to choose from nowadays, you need to consider the pros and cons. With available sinks getting larger and deeper, you can soak larger pans and dishes, it also makes preparing large amounts of food an easier task. Larger, deeper sinks such as Farmhouse sinks are very popular, however they lack versatility compared to double sinks.
