A kitchen’s function has changed over recent years, from
being solely a place to prepare food to the centrepiece of the family home.
Since a kitchen is generally the most used and functional room, you need to
make sure it is just perfect for you, your friends and your family! Bespoke
kitchens offer you incredible functionality combined with the personal details
and aesthetics that will define your dream kitchen. These tips will help you
create your ideal kitchen in the easiest way possible!
1/Make sure you pick a designer who is on the same page as you. You need to have a good relationship with your designer, so they can offer you expert advice whilst acknowledging and factoring in your needs and desires. You can both be part of the process of turning a striking design into reality.
2/ Start considering the style of your kitchen early, from contemporary, traditional, eclectic, rustic etc. Making these decision early helps you avoid rushed decisions that you may regret.
3/ Space and layout is incredibly important in a kitchen. When creating your new bespoke kitchen, you have so much freedom to decide on the shapes and layout that will suit you and your family. If you are creating a kitchen diner, or an open kitchen living room, zones (see 5) can make all the difference.
4/ Design your lighting too! As multi-functional rooms, it can be very complex to design an effective lighting scheme. The three layers of lighting needed in a kitchen are:
· Ambient (general) lighting
· Task lighting (i.e undercupboard lighting)
· Accent lighting (highlights key features)
Try to maximise natural light with French, sliding or bi-fold glazed doors, skylights and mirrors.
5/ Open plan spaces have the most potential for an incredible kitchen diner, however if the space isn’t used wisely they can look empty and soulless. Zoning is a vital part of an open-plan room, separating each section of activity in a stylish but functional layout. Consider furniture placement, such as a breakfast bar as a divider between kitchen and dining room. This also adds functionality and storage. Different lighting can also be utilized to create different atmospheres in other parts of the room.
6/ There are 2 choices when considering flooring. Either:
· Stick with the same flooring throughout, to create a sense of cohesion across the entire room
· Have a hard-wearing, low-maintenance floor in the kitchen and something softer such as carpet in other living areas
Although a variety of floors can work well in zoning areas, the juncture where two floors meet can be a challenge.
7/ Concealing clutter is important, particularly in a kitchen diner or kitchen living room. You will want to conceal kitchen clutter such as dirty dishes when having guests around, or even when you just need to chill out on the sofa. Raised worktop bars or breakfast bars can be a great way to hide clutter. Another clever solution is having partition doors to be closed when guests arrived, or setting the kitchen at a different height to the rest of the room.
8/ Add your own personal touches! When your kitchen is finished, decorate your kitchen so it is unique and personal to you! It is personal touches that can truly give kitchens that wow factor.

With the summer sun blistering outside, the last thing you want to do is turn on a hot oven in a stuffy kitchen and start prepping. We’ve come up with a couple of tips to ensure you can enjoy your cooking experience in a cool environment, possibly whilst drinking a nice cold glass of wine. Relax this summer, even when prepping the kids’ dinner!
Use countertop appliances. Get adventurous and start planning meals that avoid using your usual range oven. How about using your slow cooker, convection oven, microwave, toastie makers and grills to make an old and easy favourite. Reducing the use of your main oven will keep your kitchen so much cooler, so embrace countertop appliances, or why not opt for salads and meals that involve no cooking altogether?
Improve your main appliances. Old ovens, dishwashers and microwaves will let more heat into your kitchen, whilst also wasting energy and utility money. We can help you choose new appliances for your kitchen that are innovative, convenient and energy-saving (and they look great too!).

Planning a brand new kitchen means contemplating a huge number of complicated and confusing decisions, from the layout, the design, the cabinets, the lighting... flooring...tiles… the list goes on and on! However there is one decision that often gets left until last minute, drowned out by all the more daunting kitchen decisions… what kind of sink will you choose?
Don’t know where to start? Here are a couple of options to think about:
1/ Size isn’t Everything… But It Can Make A Big Difference
With so many shapes and sizes of sink to choose from nowadays, you need to consider the pros and cons. With available sinks getting larger and deeper, you can soak larger pans and dishes, it also makes preparing large amounts of food an easier task. Larger, deeper sinks such as Farmhouse sinks are very popular, however they lack versatility compared to double sinks.
